At
the TSR&TP Symposium in Sacramento on April 23, 2005, members of
the TSR&TP Executive Committee reviewed all posters presented
for their ability to communicate science to a broad audience,
creativity, and
visual presentation.
Valerie McKenzie,
an Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology doctoral student at UC
Santa Barbara was selected as the Best Poster winner for her poster
on
A
Modeling
Approach
to
Analyze
the
Effects of Nutrient Pollution on Frog Trematode Parasites. Valerie
received an engraved iPod mini and a $500 award to present her research
at a scientific meeting. Fiona
Lau, Environmental Toxicology student at UC Davis and Xiaoyan Liao,
Environmental
Health
Sciences student
at UC Los Angeles were selected as runners-up and
each
received
an
iPod
Shuffle.
All
three
winners
will
share their
research in oral presentations at the 2006 Symposium in
San Diego.
