12 Grants and Fellowships Funded for 2005-06


The TSR&TP received 95 applications for 2005-06 funding, many of which were excellent proposals. The Executive Committee selected 4 investigator grants and 8 student fellowships for funding. View the list of these projects along with abstracts in the grant awards area.

Valerie McKenzie Wins Best Poster at the Sacramento Symposium

At the TSR&TP Symposium in Sacramento on April 23, 2005, members of the TSR&TP Executive Committee reviewed all posters presented for their ability to communicate science to a broad audience, creativity, and visual presentation.

Valerie McKenzie, an Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology doctoral student at UC Santa Barbara was selected as the Best Poster winner for her poster on A Modeling Approach to Analyze the Effects of Nutrient Pollution on Frog Trematode Parasites. Valerie received an engraved iPod mini and a $500 award to present her research at a scientific meeting. Fiona Lau, Environmental Toxicology student at UC Davis and Xiaoyan Liao, Environmental Health Sciences student at UC Los Angeles were selected as runners-up and each received an iPod Shuffle. All three winners will share their research in oral presentations at the 2006 Symposium in San Diego.

 

 

 

 

 


19th Annual Symposium Set for San Diego in April 2006

The 19th Annual TSR&TP Research Symposium will be held in San Diego next year. The exact date and location will be announced later this summer.

All faculty and students funded by the TSR&TP in the current academic year will be invited to attend and present posters. The general public is also welcome to attend.
