TSR&TP Grants Program
In November of each year, the TSR&TP announces a Request for Proposals for Student Fellowships and New Investigator Grants with proposals due at the end of January. In addition to the annual grant competition, Intercampus Travel Grants of $1000 or more are available throughout the year.
We are also recruiting for a new Lead Campus program in 2008.
Mission
The mission of the UC TSR&TP is to "support long-term research and graduate education in toxics-related fields that will help provide the new concepts and scientific talent essential to solving the problems of toxic chemicals in our environment". To fulfill this mission, the UC TSR&TP issues an annual Request for Proposals for support of research projects dealing with problems relevant to California. The emphasis of the grants competition is to develop new research areas and to provide seed funding for projects that will form the basis for subsequent extramural funding. The competitive grants program is comprised of two main elements: Investigator Grants and Student Fellowships. In addition, funds for Intercampus Travel Grants are available for applicants throughout the year. RFP announcements are issued in November of each year, and the deadline for submission of proposals is the end of January. The UC TSR&TP Executive Committee selects proposals for funding in the spring, and project periods begin on July 1st. For examples of previous projects funded, see above for the abstracts from the winning proposals.
Eligibility
The UC TSR&TP is a University of California systemwide program. Anyone with principal investigator status at any UC campus or at any of the three National Laboratories managed by UC is eligible to apply for an Investigator Grant. Master's or doctoral students in any UC program are eligible to apply for a Student Fellowship or Intercampus Travel Grant.
Criteria for Review
Review criteria include but are not limited to: scientific merit, creativity and innovation of proposed research, relevance to UC TSR&TP's programmatic goals and to problems of the State of California (see Research Needs), and qualification of the investigator(s).
