Generally, hypothesis testing research and/or research directed towards understanding at a mechanistic level is more likely to be funded than purely descriptive studies. - Relevance to the UC TSR&TP
We fund a broad range of studies in various disciplines, so this requirement is broadly construed. Consulting our list of previously funded projects and Research Priorities (links from the RFP on the TSR&TP website) will often help define relevance in this context. - Background
Why is this research project important enough to problems of toxics in the environment to warrant funding? Limit this section to 2 pages. - Research Design and Methods
How will you successfully carry out this research project? - Data Management
What statistical analyses will be used to interpret the data? - Future Importance of Research
How is your research relevant to or how does it address future problems? - Literature Cited

Statement of Compliance
The proposal applicant, mentor professor and collaborators must agree to TSR&TP's terms and conditions of funding:
I agree to comply with all reporting requirements for each year this proposal is funded and/or extended, including the submission of annual reports on funded research activities and reports on trainee career paths. I agree to acknowledge the TSR&TP for any publications resulting from TSR&TP funding. I understand that presenting a poster of the research findings at the Annual Research Symposium is expected for each year this proposal is funded and/or extended.
I also understand that this grant is made solely to the student named in this fellowship. If the student graduates or leaves the university, the remaining fellowship money must be returned to the TSR&TP. If all the funds are not used by the end of the grant period, the applicant must request a no cost extension or return remaining funds to the TSR&TP.
