Student Fellowships
Request For Proposals
2008-2009 Funding
Deadline 1/31/08
Description
The UC Toxic Substances Research and Teaching Program (UC TSR&TP) announces the availability of funding for Student Fellowships in the social, biological, chemical, physical or engineering sciences relevant to problems of toxic substances in California. Students currently enrolled in a graduate program on any UC campus are eligible to apply. We invite proposals from graduate students whose research focuses on our areas of programmatic emphasis. Research projects that identify and address emerging issues are appropriate for this competition. These proposals should contain a short explanation of why the chosen topic is anticipated to be an important toxics-related issue.
We encourage graduate students to propose research for which preliminary data are needed to support extramural funding in their research groups.
Award Amount
Up to $60,000 over a 2 year period ($30,000 per year) is available for each award.
Fellowships may include stipends, UC fees (state resident only), and other research expenses for up to two years.
Application Process
Eligibility: Currently enrolled University of California graduate students. Highest priority will be given to students who have not previously been funded by the TSR&TP or any of our Lead Campus programs.
Deadline: Proposals must be submitted on the TSR&TP website by 5:00 PM on January 31, 2008 to be considered in this competition.
Proposal Requirements
- Prepare your application using the TSR&TP Fellowship Application Guidelines
- Submit your application online
- Your mentor professor will need to upload a letter of recommendation separately on our submission website
NOTE: TSR&TP does not require Contracts & Grants Office approval for any grant applications, but your individual campus may require approval before releasing funds to you. TSR&TP transfers grant funds directly to the applicant's home department. It is up to you as the applicant and your department grant administrator to ensure compliance with your campus rules.
Review of Proposals & Funding
The UC TSR&TP Executive Committee conducts the reviews (see criteria) and will select proposals for funding in May 2008, for initiation on July 1, 2008.
